Former rag & bone Director of Knitwear Phyllis Chan partners with Hong Kong designer Suzzie Chung to launch premium knitwear brand, YanYan (人人). Meaning “everyone” in Cantonese, the name reflects the company ethos of making thoughtful design-driven products; thinking about people from sourcing to design to manufacturing to making a connection with our customers.
Our grandmothers taught us to embrace our own individual sense of style, be fearless and wear what makes us happy. Our products are a reflection of that attitude – fun, eclectic pieces that juxtapose modern and traditional elements. We want to create clothing that’s inspired by our lives in New York with nods to our Hong Kong heritage. Each piece is designed to be emotional and thoughtful, reflecting the playfulness, whimsy and confidence of the modern empowered individual.
Knitwear isn’t a typical medium that’s used in traditional Chinese clothing, and we want to explore what the material can do. We believe well-designed knitwear is an investment that inspires you to revisit time and time again. Our materials are sourced from specialty mills around the world, and proudly knitted in China. We focus on using novelty yarns with truly special texture and character.
